Description
Grape Explorations Australia runs private group wine tours through the Mornington Peninsula and Yarra Valley, owned and driven by Michael Aveson, who personally hosts each group. Tours travel in a fleet of Mercedes-Benz vehicles catering for groups of one to 29 people, with pick-up and drop-off from Melbourne's city centre, the Peninsula, or anywhere in between. The operator's popular Hidden Gems tour steers away from the big-name cellar doors, instead visiting boutique, family-run vineyards where guests often get the chance to meet the winemaker directly and hear the stories behind the wine. Other packages include the Easy Does It tour and premium Indulgence experiences, one of which partners with Alba Thermal Springs for a spa-and-wine combination, giving groups a range of paces and price points to choose from. A distinctive touch sets the tours apart: before each trip, Aveson asks guests to anonymously submit a Spotify playlist, which he blends into a custom soundtrack for the day. Tastings and a two-course lunch at one of the region's wineries are included, and stops can extend beyond wineries to distilleries, breweries, cideries and farm gates depending on the tour.
