Fenian Wines is a small, family-run winery on a six-acre vineyard in Red Hill, on the Mornington Peninsula. The Fenian label was founded in 2012 by winemaker Ed Donnelly, who trained through a vintage at Red Hill Estate and a vintage at the Hugel winery in Alsace, France, before completing formal winegrowing studies. The winery focuses on estate-grown Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris and Chardonnay, made using hand-crafted, low-intervention techniques, including whole-bunch pressing, indigenous yeast fermentation and gravity-fed transfers between vessels. The rustic cellar door sits within the vineyard, with an outdoor deck overlooking the surrounding forest, and offers tastings on Saturdays and the first weekend of each month, plus public holiday long weekends, or by private appointment. The relaxed, boutique setting makes Fenian Wines a quieter alternative to larger Peninsula wineries, suited to visitors after a personal tasting experience directly from the winemaker's own small-batch releases.
