Down The Rabbit Hole Wines is a family-owned winery on Binney Road in McLaren Vale, established in 2013 by Domenic and Elise Palumbo. Award-winning winemaker Walter Clappis makes the label's wines from organic and biodynamic vineyards using minimal-intervention techniques, producing Shiraz, Tempranillo, Grenache and a sparkling Blanc de Blancs alongside other small-volume styles. The cellar door leans into a playful, informal setting rather than a conventional tasting room, centred on a powder-blue double-decker bus named Lennon that has been converted into seating for wine tastings, plus an open lawn with a fire pit and The Piazza, a sunlit square between the restaurant, the bus and a flower garden. Casual visitors can order Italian-style pizzas, cheeseboards and small plates to share on the lawn, while the on-site restaurant, Fiore, offers a more formal sit-down meal. On Fridays through summer, the winery runs Golden Times, with live acoustic music from 5:30pm as the sun sets over the vines; the kitchen serves until 7:30pm and no bookings are taken for this session.
