In 1912 Otto Fredrick Rohwedder of Davenport, Iowa, decided enough is enough! Sick of hacking away like a blind pirate, risking severe injury to both himself and his loved ones, and tired of throwing away most of his breakfast, he set to work developing what is widely considered to be the greatest 'thing' ever willed into existence. It took him a while, he battled stiff opposition from the religious conservative, wild factory fires, and crippling engineering blunders, but in 1928 Otto released to the world the first fully automated loaf-at-a-time bread-slicing machine - thus creating 'Sliced Bread'!!! Since then humanity has anticipated with bated breath the next creation worthy of following the phrase "The best thing since..."
