Sharing is Caring was founded by Lara Sands in 2020, during Melbourne's second lockdown, after she left a long advertising career following repeated experiences of workplace discrimination around her age and marital status. She built a gifting platform around a simple mantra, sharing is caring, curating boxes and hampers for birthdays, baby showers, anniversaries, engagements, new jobs and new homes. Every box draws on products from local and small Australian businesses, giving the gifting platform a secondary role as a showcase for other small operators. Sands built sustainability into the business model too, aiming to tread as lightly as possible on the environment in how orders are packed and delivered. Same-day gift boxes and hampers are available for anyone needing a last-minute gift, alongside standard delivery options for less time-pressured occasions. For anyone wanting to send a genuinely considered gift, Sharing is Caring turns that impulse into a curated box built from businesses worth supporting.
