Benton Rise Farm has been part of the Mornington Peninsula since 1996, when the original owners turned unused paddocks into a working farm gate and brought in the vintage W-class tram and Red Rattler train carriage that still anchor the site today. Several families have shaped it since, and it is now run by Tanya and Paul, who describe the place as somewhere between a cafe, a produce store, a farm and a park. Fresh fruit, vegetables and pantry goods come from the farm itself and from trusted Peninsula growers and artisans, much of it harvested within a day or two of reaching the shelves inside the old train carriage. A locally roasted coffee sits at the centre of a visit, alongside simple cafe snacks for anyone wanting to linger. Children can meet the resident goats, sheep and chickens, with feeding time running daily from 10am to 1pm, while the vintage train doubles as a play space. The farm is open Thursday to Sunday from 9am to 3pm, and while private functions are currently paused as the new owners settle in, the site has hosted birthdays and family gatherings for years and plans to reopen bookings in time. It suits a slow family morning as much as a produce-focused weekly shop.
