Description
Mensho Tokyo in Melbourne is the first Australian outpost of the renowned Tokyo-born ramen chain founded by chef Tomoharu Shono. Located at 166 Russell Street in the CBD, this compact 28-seat eatery quickly built a cult following thanks to its meticulous approach to ramen making.
The standout dish is the Toripaitan, a rich, creamy chicken broth simmered for six hours to achieve its deep flavour and silky texture. Other inventive offerings include Matcha Ramen, Spicy Lamb, Garlic Knockout, and a premium Wagyu Ramen with limited daily availability.
Despite long queues when it first opened, wait times are now more manageable—though it’s still wise to arrive early. Guests enjoy the warm, intimate setting, attentive service by Japanese-trained chefs, and a thoughtful menu of sides like karaage and spicy corn wings.
Mensho Tokyo delivers a globally inspired, elevated ramen experience right in the heart of Melbourne—a must-visit for serious ramen lovers.
