TREAND at Baxter Valley Estate sits at the top of the Mornington Peninsula, less than an hour from Melbourne, on a well-established property home to a dam lined with willow trees and visited by black swans. Winemaker Line crafts the estate's own wines, poured alongside a compact seasonal menu that has included a fluffy cheese soufflé, pan-seared scallops, beef tenderloin, gnocchi and pork belly, with a goat cheese and onion jam bruschetta as a lighter starter. Desserts run to a Chocolate Treand and a pear almond tart. The cellar door doubles as a small shop stocked with gifts and local produce, and outdoor veranda and deck seating looks out over the vineyard and gardens, available on request at the time of booking since indoor tables are typically set for a two-hour sitting. Private events can be arranged in the cellar door on request, and the estate is a short walk from Baxter station on the Stony Point train line.
