eeny meeny is owned and run by chef Robbie Wright and Sandra Jennings, who set up their retro-styled cafe on Frankston's Young Street. Wright trained under Elena Bonnici at Yelza Bar and worked as second chef at Chez Phat before opening his own kitchen, and that background shows in a menu that pulls in Middle Eastern, French and Asian influences rather than sticking to standard cafe fare. Persian eggs are a breakfast staple, alongside dishes like Turkish eggs and a prawn and chorizo spaghetti, with an interesting specials board that changes regularly to keep the menu feeling fresh rather than fixed. Housemade sweets, including lemon meringue pie, lamingtons and peanut butter cookies, sit in the display cabinet alongside the savoury menu, made fresh in-house each morning. The fit-out leans into 1950s American diner styling, with vinyl records from the owners' own collection mounted on the walls and vintage bric-a-brac scattered through the space, while a secluded all-seasons courtyard out the back extends the seating and stays warm through winter, thanks to outdoor heaters that make even a cold Frankston morning comfortable. eeny meeny trades seven days from 8am to 3pm, with dinner service added Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights from 5pm.
