Bodrum Essendon is a much-loved Turkish and Mediterranean restaurant on Fletcher Street, bringing the flavours of the Aegean coast to Melbourne's north-west. A local favourite for more than 30 years, it now has a fresh new menu under new ownership.
The heart of the kitchen is the wood-fired oven, turning out slow-cooked meats such as the signature kuzu tandir (tender wood-fired lamb), alongside fresh seafood, grills and vibrant mezze like muhammara. Save room for dessert: pistachio baklava and golden, syrupy künefe are made in-house, and Turkish coffee arrives with Turkish delight.
The dining room is intimate and beautifully styled, ideal for date nights, family dinners and catch-ups with friends. Gluten-free and dairy-free diners are well catered for, and a private dining room is available for small celebrations and corporate events.
Open for dinner Thursday to Sunday, with lunch on weekends.
