Description

St Andrews Beach Brewery occupies a 92-acre property in Fingal that was once a world-class thoroughbred training facility, complete with an 1,200-metre grass racing track now given over to fruit and vegetable crops. Co-founder Andrew Purchase built the original racetrack for the Freedman family, Australian horse racing royalty, and when the property came up for sale in 2015, he partnered with Michael Freedman to convert the old stables into a brewery. Sixteen of the former horse boxes have been turned into private dining areas, seating groups of five to thirty-six for up to three hours, giving the venue a genuinely distinctive setting on the Peninsula. The core beer range covers a US-style pale ale, Australian lager, golden ale and pilsner, brewed on site with heirloom Australian barley and hop varieties, alongside seasonal specialty releases and a barrel-aged range. Food runs to small plates, share plates, salads, pizzas and burgers, paired with a wine list drawn from local Peninsula producers. A relaxed beer garden and modern indoor dining area let visitors watch the brewhouse from the bar. Set on a 92-acre property just a short drive from Sorrento, Blairgowrie, Rye and Red Hill, St Andrews Beach Brewery suits a sunny afternoon session as much as a private group booking in a converted stable box.
