Description
Drawing inspiration from the Hotel Particulier in Montmartre, Maison Batard is an expansive four-level French culinary haven created by Chris Lucas, the visionary behind popular establishments such as Chin Chin, Society, and Grill Americano. Each floor of this venue reveals a unique and opulent theme. The first floor is highlighted by a striking Milanese chandelier, complemented by the works of Parisian artist Claire Fontaine, which are thoughtfully placed throughout the space. The ground and first floors house Restaurant Batard, which exudes the charm of a classic French bistro, featuring an oyster bar and smoked mirrors. The open kitchen showcases ducks and chickens rotating on rotisseries and hanger steaks being expertly seared on jospers. The menu largely focuses on lighter interpretations of traditional French cuisine, opting for oil in place of rich cream and butter. Desserts are a standout, with options like vanilla flan or decadent chocolate mousse served right at your table. Perhaps the most unexpected area is Le Terrace, a refreshing rooftop with a central atrium. While it seems like the perfect setting for Sinatra and string quartets, the atmosphere here leans more toward lively DJ sets. The name of the establishment pays homage to Lucas's passion for wine, particularly the white burgundy from Batard Montrachet. Maison Batard proudly boasts a collection of 2,600 wines, featuring selections from both French and Australian vineyards, with over 200 available by the glass, including exclusive offerings from small French producers.
