Description
Wildgrain occupies a beautifully restored grain store on Blamey Place, just steps from Mornington's Main Street, run by owners and experienced chefs Sean Flanagan and Sarah Pitfield. Head Chef Leo Howard curates a seasonal menu built around a genuine seed-to-plate philosophy, with much of the produce grown organically on the restaurant's own farm and paired with ingredients from local Peninsula suppliers who share the same focus on quality and sustainability. Seasonal vegetables, herbs and edible flowers harvested from that farm regularly adorn the plates. Guests can settle beside the fireplace in the livelier main Dining Room, at the cocktail bar, into a velvet banquette, or in the Greenhouse, a fully covered, open-air extension surrounded by greenery. The venue seats around 70 inside and another 30 across its outdoor terrace, and both the Dining Room and Greenhouse can be booked for private dining events. A fridge near the entrance stocks take-home meals for anyone not staying to eat in. Wildgrain trades lunch Wednesday to Saturday and dinner Tuesday to Saturday, suited equally to a quiet dinner, a long lunch, or a bigger celebration. Breakfast items like a haloumi and avocado roll served with black pudding also feature on the menu, extending Wildgrain's trading hours into the morning as well as lunch and dinner.
