Description
Parathaas is a North Indian restaurant on Bridge Road in Richmond, founded by Ash Ahlawat and Dhaval Nimkar, who met while studying at Deakin University and began cooking together in their student accommodation before hosting informal supper clubs. As the name suggests, paratha is the centrepiece: wholemeal dough tossed with ghee on a hot tawa until golden, served plain or filled with options such as minced potato, cottage cheese or cauliflower, alongside a flakier lachha version. The kitchen also makes samosas, momo dumplings and vegan soya chaap nuggets, with mains spanning affordable thali sets, dal makhani and butter chicken, plus tandoor-baked roti, naan and kulcha. The homey, diner-style space is BYO wine, good for groups and takes reservations, open for lunch and dinner most days including late-night service on weekends. Parathaas has quickly built a strong local reputation on the Bridge Road strip for its comforting, home-style approach to North Indian cooking.
