Future Magic Brewing Co. was built through local crowdfunding before the brewery even opened, making it, by its own account, the first Brisbane brewery to bring its community into ownership from the start. The taproom on Manilla Street in East Brisbane keeps things simple, with original red-brick walls, upcycled timber picnic tables and a mural of Norse gods nodding to the brewery's name. Twelve taps rotate through a core range including the Galaxy Dust New England IPA and Magic Stick session pale ale, alongside seasonal sours and ciders, with a four-beer tasting paddle for the undecided. The kitchen serves classic wood-fired pizzas alongside arancini, salt and pepper calamari and fries, with vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free options available. Family and dog-friendly, with a weekly Thursday trivia night, Future Magic is a genuine neighbourhood brewery built around community rather than just beer.
