The Corner Hotel has stood on Swan Street in Richmond since 1871, and has operated as a live music venue since the 1940s, becoming a fixture of Melbourne's rock scene under current owners Tim Northeast and Mathew Everett since the mid-1990s. Its ground-floor bandroom, with capacity for around 800, has hosted acts including Mick Jagger, David Gilmour, The White Stripes, Ben Harper, Crowded House and Queens of the Stone Age. A separate City Bar caters to those after sport and drinks rather than a gig, while a greenery-filled rooftop deck with a pool table offers views over Melbourne's sporting precinct. The kitchen serves pub classics from parmas to steaks and larger share dishes like smoked pork hock, with a late-night menu of burgers and snacks to keep gig-goers fuelled.
