Opening in the 1940s as a businessmen's club, The Manly Civic Club - as it was formerly known - started out as an exclusive venue for the upper echelons of society then eventually welcomed a more diverse membership and much success. However, in 2008, after battling local rule and restriction changes for many years, the Manly Civic Club closed its doors.
It's not often a Club reopens after more than a decade... but this one certainly did - giving birth to a new Club with a brand new name, The Manly Club on Gilbert Park... AND The Garage on Gilbert Park (formerly known as The Auckland Garage), which is a small part of history that was maintained and refurbished to house the Club café, restaurant and alfresco dining area.
