The business started as a showcase for local Mornington Peninsula wines and labels without their own cellar doors, giving smaller producers a retail presence they otherwise wouldn't have, before broadening into international bottles too, including a big, juicy Shiraz from the Barossa or a bold red from France. Small-producer relationships extend beyond wine, with deliveries of specialty goods like French saucisson arriving to be sold alongside the bottles. Trading daily from morning into evening, Red Hill Wine Collective suits a considered gift purchase as much as an hour spent browsing and learning from Portet's own enthusiasm for the craft.
