Lekker Lekker began as a university side project, started by its founder while studying Business and Economics at Monash and missing the Dutch street food he grew up with on visits back to Amsterdam. It started with a marquee and basic equipment as a pop-up called Damo's Dutch Donuts, believed to be the first stall of its kind serving oliebollen in Melbourne, before the name was changed to Lekker Lekker, meaning "yummy yummy" in Dutch, German and Afrikaans, once the range expanded beyond a single product. The menu covers traditional Amsterdam snackbar staples, including beef kroketten, hand-cut chips, oliebollen, bitterballen and frikandellen, all hand-made using family recipes. Rather than a fixed shopfront, Lekker Lekker operates as a mobile stall, attending markets, festivals and events across Victoria each week, including the Tesselaar Tulip Festival, Mornington Food and Wine Festival, and the Holland Festival. Beyond regular market trading, the business caters weddings, birthdays and special events, adapting its Dutch menu to suit private functions. That combination of market presence and event catering has let it build a following well beyond a single location, covering suburbs across Melbourne and the Mornington Peninsula.
