Killik Handcrafted Rum is a family-run distillery on Monbulk Road in Belgrave, close to Sherbrooke Forest. Its focus is hogo rum, the fruity, high-ester style associated with Jamaica, made here using wild fermentation and techniques drawn from traditional Jamaican production. Gin is also produced on site. The distillery door works as a bar, café and eatery in one, so a visit can be as simple as a coffee or as long as a tasting followed by a meal. The bar leans heavily on Australian rum, with rum-led cocktails alongside local beer, and the food menu is built to sit alongside the drinks rather than compete with them. Trading runs Wednesday to Sunday, with longer hours on weekends, making it an easy stop before or after time in the Dandenong Ranges.
