Heartling opened its doors in 2022 tucked away off the Victoria Harbour Promenade in Docklands, the creation of an architect-turned-chef who spent lockdown developing the heart-shaped dumpling recipes that would later define the restaurant. Every dumpling is hand-constructed using traditional Chinese pastry techniques, filled with a range of plant-based and seafood options, and served in what the venue calls a slow dining format built around genuine care and presentation. Beyond dumplings, the menu extends to waffle hearts, kongfu tea and saké, designed for a meditative, unhurried meal rather than a quick bite. Small groups of one to seven guests can be seated at the connect-and-explore tables, while private dining for eight to ten guests is available at a set minimum spend. For Suby, the restaurant's founder, running Heartling has been as much about reconnecting with her Chinese heritage and family recipes as it has been about creating a genuinely unique dining experience in the heart of Docklands.
