Kitanda Bevs & Bites brought a taste of Brazil to Darlinghurst's Victoria Street, founded by São Paulo natives Tatiana Simplicio, previously of Fei Jai and Chula, and Kauani Sampaio, previously of Glass and The Cat's Meow. Inspired by the botecos of Brazil, longstanding neighbourhood hangouts filled with generations of stories, the colourful 50-seat space pays homage to Rio de Janeiro's beloved downtown bars, with high ceilings, upcycled furniture and vintage photographs adorning pastel blue walls around an open kitchen. Authentic flavours from every region of Brazil come through in dishes influenced by Indigenous, African and European traditions, paired with signature and classic cocktails, a Brazilian-inspired lager and a considered wine list. Live music runs Saturday and Sunday afternoons, bringing bossa rhythms to the venue's gorgeous alfresco dining area, complete with umbrellas for sunny days and heaters for cooler evenings.
