KOI Dessert Kitchen traces its journey back to a family garage in 2012, where founder Ike Malada started operations with just $300 to support the family, long before her son Reynold Poernomo was inducted into MasterChef's dessert hall of fame. Since establishing its Ryde site on Blaxland Road, KOI has become a genuine dessert lovers' destination, serving signature cakes and tarts including the espresso mousse, salted caramel and brownie 'Nomtella', alongside custom celebration cakes for special occasions. The Ryde venue doubles as a teaching kitchen, where guests can watch desserts being crafted in the commercial production facility or join regular dessert classes run by Reynold and guest chefs, adding a genuinely hands-on element to the experience. A café functions as the core of the space, welcoming walk-ins for a coffee and slice as much as a full high-tea celebration.
