KOGI Korean BBQ sits on Level 3 of Market City in Haymarket, part of the precinct's third-level dining strip, offering an artisan approach to Korean barbecue with more than 35 years of combined management experience behind it. Founder Donald Bae was the first person to bring Korean BBQ to Australia in 1992, while head chef Hang Jun Chung has served up Galbi and other Korean specialities since 1983, giving the kitchen a genuine depth of expertise. Diners cook over 15 premium cuts of Wagyu beef and pork on hot charcoal grills built into each table, with the searing heat imbuing the meat with a smokier flavour than a standard gas flame. The kitchen also serves extensive banchan and bibimbap bowls alongside the barbecue offering, catering well to both a quick lunch and a longer group dinner. A second Kogi location operates in Chatswood, giving Sydney diners two spots to enjoy the group's signature charcoal-grilled approach to Korean BBQ.
