Happyfield opened in October 2020 on the corner of Ramsay and Dalhousie streets in Haberfield, bringing an American-diner concept to a suburb traditionally known for its Italian dining scene. The venue was founded by Chris Theodosi, handling front of house, and Canadian chef Jesse Orleans, previously of The Grounds, who met while working together and settled on Haberfield after exploring other Inner West locations. Pancakes are the drawcard, described as foldable without breaking and finished with Pepe Saya butter and Canadian maple syrup, alongside smash burgers, hash browns and a rotating sandwich of the week. The pressed-tin ceiling has been painted sunshine yellow, with exposed brick walls and a high communal table tiled by Theodosi's father giving the space its warm, energised character. A second nearby outpost, Happy Shop, has since opened on Dalhousie Street for waffle and muffin specials with extended Friday and Saturday night hours.
