Description

Jounieh sits on the Walsh Bay harbour foreshore at Dawes Point, an inner-city offering from the team behind Parramatta's Lebanese fine diner El-Phoenician, and takes its name from the Lebanese coastal town famed for its luxurious oceanfront resorts and bustling nightlife. The contemporary Middle Eastern menu draws on traditional Lebanese flavours and spices, running from delicate seafood small plates including grilled Moreton Bay bugs with citrus butter and Sydney rock oysters through to an 11-hour cooked lamb shoulder and shawarma served with pita, tarator and pickles. Chef Gonzales-Poncet, whose background spans Felix, Coogee Pavilion and Song Kitchen, also prepares samke harrah croquettes, kibbi nayeh and arnabeet, a golden cauliflower dish with pomegranate, mint and roasted almonds. Set within Sydney's Walsh Bay Arts Precinct, a short walk from the Roslyn Packer Theatre and Sydney Dance Company, Jounieh is a fitting pre-theatre stop as well as a destination for a longer, harbourfront lunch, dinner or group celebration.
