Georgie Bass Cafe
Description
Georgie Bass Cafe & Cookery opened in December 2015 from the team behind the historic Flinders Hotel, taking its name from George Bass, the sailor who charted the coastline alongside his friend Matthew Flinders in the 1790s. The all-day menu leans on fresh, local and seasonal produce sourced from handpicked regional farmers, dairies, orchards and wineries, served in a bright, garden-set space with ample indoor and outdoor seating. A purpose-built cooking school, fitted with Miele appliances, runs regular hands-on classes led by industry chefs, spanning everything from Sicilian feasts to Spanish paella nights. The cafe uses Commonfolk Coffee, a fellow Mornington Peninsula roaster, and draws on produce grown up the road at Mornington Park. Whether for a relaxed breakfast, a long lunch or a cooking class, Georgie Bass captures the regional character of Flinders.
