Federal Coffee takes its name and setting from the heritage GPO building on the corner of Bourke and Elizabeth streets in the Melbourne CBD, reviving the spirit of the original Federal Coffee Palace under the building's archways. Now well over a decade old, the venue has grown from a simple coffee stop into an upmarket, all-day brunch destination, pairing coffee in the mornings with cocktails and Champagne through the afternoon. The menu leans French, with dishes such as smashed avocado with comté cheese, eggs benedict atop pork terrine and duck cassoulet with lentils, alongside pastries from Tivoli Road Bakery and cocktails from local producer Everleigh.
