Evie's Bar & Diner opened its doors on Valentine's Day 2018 inside a converted ironworks on Gertrude Street, Fitzroy, and has since become one of Melbourne's better-known inclusive, LGBTQ+-friendly venues. The retro American diner menu is built to be super vegan-friendly, using locally sourced ingredients across every dish, right down to the house soda, alongside a large selection of cocktails, wines and beers. Fitzroy's happiest hour and one of its most colourful dance floors give the venue its energy, with weekly bingo and karaoke nights, plus regular comedy, live gigs, drag events and film screenings. The venue also runs Fitzroy's boisterous bottomless drag brunches across two Saturday sittings and one on Sunday, and can host private mezzanine functions for 50 to 100 guests with no minimum spend. It's a genuinely playful, high-energy stop for a night out in Fitzroy.
